A ligament reconstruction is broadly done for an ankle (Lateral Ankle Ligament Reconstruction - ALR) or knee injury (Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction - ACL). Typically, at least six months of non surgical treatment should be undertaken before considering a ligament reconstruction. For ALR the Brostrom procedure is most commonly used. The total recovery time is six to twelve months on average. ACL reconstruction can be done using Autografts, Allografts or a Bridge enhanced ACL repair. Recovery takes anywhere between six to fifteen months on average.
