Orthopedic surgery deals with conditions surrounding the musculoskeletal system. Also known as orthopedics, it involves both surgical and nonsurgical methods to treat musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, congenital disorders, tumors, infections and spine diseases. Usually, an orthopaedic consultant has a specialized interest which could be a particular orthopaedic condition, a specific area of the body, or a field such as paediatrics or sport surgery. Orthopedic surgery is the treatment of an orthopedic condition, which would require a diagnosis (X - ray) and following the surgery, an exercise plan may need to be followed.
