Involving an interdisciplinary approach, pain management is a branch of medicine that is designed to ease suffering while improving the quality of life of people living with chronic pain. A pain management team usually comprises of medical practitioners, physiotherapists, physician assistants, nurses and pharmacists. Depending on the type of the chronic pain, the team can also include mental health specialists and massage therapists. The aim is to reduce the underlying trauma promptly, generally treated by one practitioner but may also require careful planning and coordination with a pain-management team.
